I Didn’t Have a Plan. I Just Kept Going.
What do you do when you don’t know what comes next?
For years, I had been used to having a plan. Then I left the social enterprise. And for the first time in years, I didn’t have one.
No big five‑year strategy. No clear idea of where I was heading. And for someone who likes to have a plan… 😂
That was quite a thing.
Learning to Trust the Process
Instead of desperately trying to work everything out, I decided to trust the process.
I started following what felt right and allowing the next chapter to unfold.
I didn’t know exactly where it was going to lead.
And looking back, that’s probably the point.
Because look what happened.
Somewhere along the way, I became a firewalking instructor. Definitely wasn’t on the original plan! 😂
Then I became an author.
First came Looking After Me. Then Perimenopause & Me. And now I’m writing book number three.
Then came speaking.
Standing on stages, sharing what I’ve learned and helping people believe that change is possible.
I’ve created new things, met incredible people and discovered parts of myself I didn’t even know were there.
None of it was on a five‑year plan.
Has It Been Easy?
Absolutely not.
Being an entrepreneur has been hard.
There have been times when finances have been tight.
There have been moments when I’ve wondered what on earth I’m doing.
And fear still pops up.
Sometimes it whispers:
“What are you doing?!”
But I’ve learned something important about fear.
Fear can come along for the ride. It just doesn’t get to drive.
I don’t need to wait until I’m completely confident before I take the next step.
I can feel scared and still move forward. I can be uncertain and still keep going.
You Don’t Need to Know What’s Next
I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to have everything figured out.
We think we need the plan.
The five‑year goal. The perfect career. The clear direction.
But sometimes you don’t know what’s next.
And that’s okay.
Sometimes the next chapter only becomes visible when you start walking towards it.
That’s what I’ve learned from this part of my journey.
Trusting the process doesn’t mean sitting back and doing nothing.
It means taking the next step without needing to know every step after that.
I don’t know exactly what my next chapter looks like.
And I’m actually okay with that.
I’m trusting the process. I’m allowing it to unfold. And I’m curious to see where it takes me. 💜
Are you trying to control what’s next?
Or could you give yourself permission to take the next step and let the rest unfold?
Sometimes the most exciting chapters are the ones you never planned.
