What If the Thing You’re Scared to Share Is Exactly What Someone Needs to Hear?

What If the Thing You’re Scared to Share Is Exactly What Someone Needs to Hear?

I nearly didn’t do any of this. I didn’t want to be on Instagram. I hated technology. I didn’t even know how to upload a picture. 🤦🏼‍♀️😂

And the thought of putting myself out there for people to see was terrifying.

But about 18 months ago, I decided I was going to stop letting fear make my decisions for me.

So I started.

I didn’t know what I was doing.

I learned as I went. I made loads of mistakes. I felt ridiculous sometimes. 😂

But I kept showing up. One step at a time. And something happened that I never expected.

People I don’t even know started messaging me to tell me they loved my content.

That something I’d shared had helped them. That my story had inspired them.

And that means so much to me. 💜

Because it made me realise that maybe this isn’t really about Instagram at all.

What If Your Story Could Help Someone?

Maybe it’s about having the courage to share what you’ve learned.

Your story. Your experiences. Your mistakes. Your message.

You don’t need to be an expert. You don’t need thousands of followers.

You don’t need to know exactly what you’re doing. You just need to start.

And if you’re holding yourself back because you’re worried about what people will think, I get it. I was doing exactly the same.

But what if the thing you’re scared to share is exactly what someone else needs to hear?

Don’t Let Fear Make Your Decisions

For years, fear made decisions for me.

I didn’t want to be seen. I didn’t want people judging me. I didn’t want to get it wrong.

But I’ve learned that confidence doesn’t necessarily come before you start.

Sometimes confidence comes because you start.

You do the thing. You survive it. You realise it wasn’t as bad as you imagined. And then you do it again.

That’s what happened with Instagram. I started with no idea what I was doing.

I learned. I made mistakes. I kept going. I even started a challenge to post every day in May and I haven’t stopped!

I’m now posting every day and, unbelievably, I’m actually enjoying it.

The woman who didn’t know how to upload a bloody picture is now addicted to posting. 😂

So Here’s Your Reminder

Don’t hide your message because you’re afraid of being seen.

Don’t wait until you’re completely confident.

Don’t wait until you know exactly what you’re doing.

Start where you are. Learn as you go. And remember that you have no idea who might need to hear the thing you are currently scared to say.

Someone out there might need your story. Someone might need your experience. Someone might need to know they’re not the only one.

And if I can learn how to upload a bloody picture, I genuinely believe anyone can do it. 💜

Have you ever held yourself back from doing something because you were worried about what people would think?

Maybe this is your sign to stop letting fear make the decision for you.
